Materuni Waterfalls & Coffee Tour

1 day Private day trip from Moshi or Arusha

Materuni is a Chagga farming village on Kilimanjaro's southern slopes, and the day built around it combines two of the region's best half-day experiences. The walk in winds through banana groves and coffee gardens on volcanic soil before reaching Materuni Falls, a roughly 90-metre cascade dropping into a cool pool at the base of a forested gorge — a refreshing swimming spot after the hike.

Most visits are paired with a traditional coffee tour hosted by a local family: Kilimanjaro's volcanic soil and altitude make it prime Arabica country, and the tour walks you through picking, roasting and grinding beans by hand before brewing a cup the traditional way. It's a low-key, culturally rich day that works well as a relaxed first outing after arriving, or a gentle break between harder days.
