Marangu Route Mountain Huts

Kilimanjaro's only hut-based route — shared A-frame dormitory huts at Mandara, Horombo and Kibo, with mattresses and dining halls instead of tents.

Every Kilimanjaro route except Marangu is camped in tents. The Marangu Route has permanent huts at each overnight stop — Mandara (2,700 m), Horombo (3,720 m) and Kibo (4,700 m) — with bunk beds and foam mattresses in shared A-frame or dormitory buildings, plus communal dining halls. There is no privacy and no showers, but you're out of the wind and rain.

Hut fees are included in the climb permit. This is the accommodation for any 5- or 6-day Marangu climb.
