The Great Migration is a year-round, moving event, not a single spectacle in one place. This itinerary uses a mobile tented camp that relocates seasonally, so you stay close to the herds: on the short-grass plains near Ndutu for the December-to-March calving, or up in the Kogatende / Mara River area for the July-to-October crossings.
It includes the Ngorongoro Crater at the start or end. Timing matters — tell us your travel dates and we'll advise which region you'll be based in and what you're most likely to see.
Drive from Arusha to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, game viewing en route. Overnight on the crater rim.
Morning crater game drive, then continue into the Serengeti toward the current migration zone. Overnight in a mobile camp near the herds.
Full day with the migration — predator action on the southern plains, or building tension at the river crossings in the north. Overnight in the mobile camp.
A second full day in the migration zone, with an optional early balloon flight. Overnight in the mobile camp.
Game drive through to the central Serengeti for resident lion, leopard and cheetah. Overnight in the Serengeti.
Morning game drive and airstrip transfer for the light-aircraft flight back to Arusha.
