This is the itinerary most first-time visitors have in mind when they picture a Tanzanian safari: Tarangire, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater, with Lake Manyara added on the way back. Seven days gives you two unhurried nights in the Serengeti — enough to move with the wildlife rather than rush through — plus a full morning on the crater floor.
The safari is run privately in a pop-top 4x4 with your own driver-guide, so pace, stops and photography time are yours to set. Accommodation is a mix of tented camps and lodges; we match the standard to your budget when we quote.
Morning pick-up in Arusha and drive to Tarangire (about 2 hours). Afternoon game drive along the Tarangire River among the park's famous baobabs and elephant herds. Overnight near the park.
Early game drive, then the long, scenic transfer across the Ngorongoro highlands and down onto the Serengeti plains, game viewing as you go. Overnight in the central Serengeti (Seronera).
A full day exploring the Seronera valley and, depending on the season, following the migration herds north or south. Optional dawn hot-air balloon flight. Overnight in the Serengeti.
Final Serengeti game drive, then drive to the Ngorongoro Crater rim, stopping at Olduvai Gorge. Overnight on the crater rim.
Descend at dawn for a half-day game drive on the 260 km² crater floor — the best single chance on the trip for black rhino and the Big Five. Ascend for lunch, then drive to the Karatu / Lake Manyara area. Overnight near Manyara.
Morning game drive in Lake Manyara — groundwater forest, elephant, flamingos on the lake and the park's tree-climbing lions. Afternoon at leisure or an optional cultural cycling tour in Mto wa Mbu. Overnight near Manyara.
Leisurely drive back to Arusha for onward flights or a transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport, or connect to Zanzibar.
