Marangu Village & Waterfalls

1 day Private day trip from Moshi or Arusha

Marangu is a green, densely farmed Chagga village about 40 minutes above Moshi, best known as the trailhead for Kilimanjaro's Marangu Route. As a day trip it's a relaxed cultural walk rather than a climb: a local guide leads you between smallholdings growing coffee under banana shade, to one or two of the area's waterfalls (Ndoro and Kilasiya are the usual ones), and into the Chagga underground caves — tunnels dug generations ago as refuges during inter-clan and Maasai raids.

The day usually includes a stop with a village blacksmith or a home-brewing demonstration and a home-cooked Chagga lunch. It pairs naturally with Materuni or a Chemka afternoon, and works well as a gentle first or last day around a Kilimanjaro trek.
