Mnemba Atoll, off the north-east coast, is ringed by the best-protected reef around Zanzibar and is the island's premier snorkelling and diving site — clear water, healthy coral, reliable green turtles, and often dolphins on the boat ride out. This day trip takes a traditional dhow from Matemwe or Kiwengwa out to the reef for a couple of snorkelling stops, with lunch on the boat or a sandbank, returning in the afternoon. Diving can be arranged instead of snorkelling for certified divers.
Morning departure by dhow from the north-east coast. Two or three snorkelling stops on the Mnemba reef, with a beach or sandbank lunch. Return in the mid-afternoon.
