Simba A is the public campsite right on the northern crater rim, with an unbeatable outlook over the caldera and a reputation for elephant and buffalo wandering through the tents at night. Facilities are basic — a shared ablution block with (usually) hot water — and it is genuinely cold after dark at this altitude.
It's used by camping safaris with their own crew, and it puts budget travellers on the same rim as guests paying premium lodge rates.
