Arusha National Park is close enough to the city and Kilimanjaro Airport to fill a spare day at the start or end of a trip. It's one of the few parks in Tanzania where you can combine a game drive with a canoe safari and a guided forest walk in the same visit, and on a clear day both Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro are in view.
Short drive from Arusha. Game drive for giraffe, zebra, buffalo and warthog; guided canoe on the Momella Lakes among hippo and waterbirds; forest walk on the Ngurdoto Crater rim for black-and-white colobus. Return to Arusha.
