The Great Migration is a continuous, year-round loop rather than a single event, so "seeing the migration" is really about being in the right part of the Serengeti–Mara ecosystem at the right time. Roughly: December to March the herds are calving on the southern short-grass plains near Ndutu, with intense predator activity; April to June they move north-west through the Western Corridor and the Grumeti River; July to October they're in the far north, crossing the Mara River in the dramatic scenes most people picture; November they drift back south.
